I do writing on an irregular basis, having finished a couple of original novels, and a couple of fanfictions, with a smattering of oneshots and longform fanfiction yet to be finished (and may never be finished, alas).

This website is where I'd like to post that fiction, but I may not add new material here if I forget to do so. Feel free to email me at Hadassahintheshell AT gmail DOT com to ask wtf. You can find a lot of my work that's been posted online here on Archive of Our Own.

Below are my two novels fully finished. I do have a smattering of other books-in-work, but I don't think sharing in-progress stuff is productive to me en-mass. We can be friends for that deep delve into my dark edits (so many typos)

The Halcyon Call: Interloper
  1. Book 1
    • Summary:

The Halcyon Call: Of Inverted Scales is an inverted isekai fantasy centered around the meticulous and jaded Kobold scout Scaleen Fortuna. They've been stuck doing desk duty as a city guard member for three years when a young Human - who claims to know the future - lands in a prison cell for trespassing in the Imperial Palace. What the human describes is impossible, but the immediate consequences for Scaleen and their entire race in Sumar Empire are too dire to ignore. Scaleen may not want to babysit a traumatized young outsider, but if the two don’t learn to combine cynical, cultural acumen and extensive, if recreational, fandom knowledge then the world may very well succumb to a mass extinction as has been played out millions of times before.

Can you hear The Halcyon Call? Or was it always a legend told by the powerful to keep the masses chasing its idealized history

    • My second finished novel! I wrote it after getting tired of not seeing what *I* wanted to see in the whole portal fantasy/video game world. A story from the perspective of a local dealing with one of these reincarnated outsiders. I still very much like this novel and recently did some revision.
    • I *might* take this down if I ever get around to finishing my audiobook recording and want to try to sell the book in conjunction with it? Gotta finish recording it, let alone processing the audio before that's a problem at least.
Free Agent
  1. Book on ScribbleHub
    • Summary:

Erin Razor uses her coffee to get through the day, her motorcycle to get around Meridian City, and her constant research to survive what she - and most of the world - is pretty certain is a computer-generated reality. Had she known a career in programming would put her in an office with Tyson, one of the Outsiders joyriding in her world, Erin might have sought isolation on a rural commune.

Erin quickly realizes she’s in a fight for her own mind as she tries to contain the havoc wrought by their ‘fun’, which starts with events as a seemingly low stakes date and morphs over their friendship into spectacles like Erin’s own live- streamed kidnapping.

    • My first finished novel!!
    • Probably my most polished work, as I did pay for a true copy-edit and got through several revisions in hopes of snagging an agent. (the writing industry is fucking tough)
    • Currently I've got it posted on ScribbleHub, but I need to repost it somewhere. Still trying to figure out how I'd like to do that, either on here directly, or on AO3

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as fanfic goes, I've written for the fandoms below:

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya:
  1. One Thousand and Counting
    • Summary:

What if it wasn't a simple act of homework that released the Brigade from their endless summer vacation? What if the end didn't come as years faded into decades into centuries? How can the brigade cope with the growing weight of time? And even as they escape the endless summer, how do they continue to deal with the extra baggage saddled to their lives?

    • My second full length fanfiction!
    • Finished
  2. Foreign Exchange
    • Summary:

Koizumi poses a rhetorical question to an almost empty club room. He wasn't really expecting a response. One-shot.

    • One-Shot - Finished
    • Inspiration for one of the original novels I'm working on
  3. Causal Complications
    • Summary:

A day in the life of everyone's passive, moe mascot, Mikuru. (Warning: excessive cursing within.)

    • One-Shot - Finished
Powerpuff Girls:
  1. The Utonium Trials
    • Summary:

The Professor is on trial for the creation of the Powerpuff Girls, who haven't physically aged at all since they were born four years ago. How will Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup cope with being considered as monsters by the rest of the world and with the law against them?

    • My first functional fanfiction!
    • Finished
    • Not wholly published on AO3 because I've been meaning to edit this before republishing from Fanfiction.net
My Hero Academia:
  1. An Absention in Muckracking
    • Summary:

What if Bakugou Katsuki ran into that Sludge Villain in a small dark alley, rather than in a public crowd?

The Sludge Villain doesn't even have a name when the story starts. But when xe takes the body of a teen with extraordinary abilities, xe finds out just how hard, and how easy, the 'homomorph' half lives. Now on the run, each life xe touches is forcing the story into new geometries, different configurations.

Midoriya loses a best friend, must forget kindness of the killer, and finds themself in the process.

Himiko manages to find one person whom she can never be, but wants to be with regardless.

There's no coming back from the murder of a child, but maybe the story doesn't need to end there.

    • Incomplete - Not quite defunct
    • I don't actually like My Hero Academia the show, but its got a whole lot of almost functional ideas! I decided to write about the joke first episode villian since no one else had yet.
    • I come up with my story titles and rarely take editing notes because the first idea is best idea.
The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild:
  1. Heir to Nothing
    • Summary:

Zelda has worked all her life to not only fulfill her slated destiny as vessel for the Goddess's voice but also to prepare all of Hyrule for the eventual return of Calamity Ganon by researching the ancient technology left behind by the Sheikah. Everyone else knows exactly what their role is, but Zelda can't fathom relying on destiny... especially when it seems unwilling to rely on her.

    • Incomplete - Mostly defunct, but lovingly remembered
    • I like this title.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power:
  1. She-Ra Versus the Princesses of Power
    • Summary:

What if Adora got her sword and returned to the Horde, but at the cost of Catra falling into the Rebellion? Can the Princesses even stand against She-ra, trying to unite Etheria under the banner of Hordak and for the honor of Greyskull? - Mainly Catra PoV with more explicit violence.

    • Incomplete- Defunct, having mostly been written in a fever pitch when the first season was releasing.
    • Even though I wrote this early in the series release I was surprised I was the first person to use the title.
The Imperial Radch Series by Ann Leckie:
  1. Erudition
    • Summary:
    • One-Shot - Finished
    • Written as a gift in a Holiday White Santa swap for the Ann Leckie fandom discord server. I was inconfident in my writing so I wrote two stories.
  2. Uncivilized Meeting of Humans
    • Summary:
    • One-Shot - Finished
    • Written as a gift in a Holiday White Santa swap for the Ann Leckie fandom discord server. I think this is the one I promoted to be the actual gift.
Naruto:
  1. Positive Feedback
    • Summary:

Born and bred an Oto-nin since childhood, Kurusawa is just one of the many shinobi brought to the Chuunin exams to form the facade of normalcy necessary for the surprise betrayal and assault on Konoha. Kurusawa doesn't have high expectations for herself in the exams. She is a realist and knows that only sheer brutality, an admirable Sound-nin trait, and incredible luck, the last refuge of the desperate, has even gotten her this far. She doesn't expect to survive the exams but, like anyone Sound of mind, Kurusawa decided that she'll fight until the silence takes her.

    • Incomplete - Defunct
    • Like My Hero Academia, I don't really like the Naruto show, but I wrote this when I was obsessed with going through the popular, more serious Naruto fics out there.
    • One of the very few mainstream fanfictions I've written with a completely unique original main character.
Magience - Webcomic:
  1. Slink
    • Summary:

Krymnt just started the game of Magience, a highly complicated virtual reality game that operates via a headset. While she likes MMOs well enough, this one caught her attention particularly because she could play it while sleeping, which she always saw as a waste of good time anyway. Unfortunately, Krymnt quickly finds that the world of Magience neatly leaps over the uncanny valley by several miles, becoming far too realistic far too quickly for her taste. By all rights, she can't give back the life she as already taken... but Krymnt was willing to try anything, including track down a few rumors of an artifact that allowed players to rewrite the lives of NPCs completely.

    • Incomplete - Defunct
    • Magience is an obscure webcomic I was quasi-obsessed with for years. I still follow the artist/author to this day as they do other stuff, which is mostly vtubing.
  2. Smothered in an Alien Medium
    • Summary:

Scylla is a young girl who is dying to play the latest and greatest game. Everyone's been raving about the game Magience, a fantasy game built into a headset that is so real that the players have trouble discerning where the fantasy ends and reality begins in the magical land of Riariti. Every character even gets a unique entry into the game, taking over the life of an NPC of Riariti. There's a big problem for Scylla, though. Because the game is so visual, she's not allowed to play the game due to a serious medical condition. But Scylla has a plan, and she tries to get away with signing in and starting a character using her brother's headset. Scylla signs in, and creates a Merfolk character named Frazil. Eager to start, she jumps in to her game as soon as she's done, hoping to play some before her brother gets out of his morning shower.

      This is not Scylla's story.

Frazil was minding her own business, exploring a nearby coral patch, when suddenly the world vanished around her in rapid haze, and she found herself with legs, on dry land, with a boy who claimed to be her brother shouting at her for playing some game. Submerged in air, Frazil now has to figure out what is going on in this alien world.

    • Incomplete - Defunct
    • Title borrowed from a phrase in my favorite book, Sunshine by Robin McKinley

Thats all I have for now! I will try to add more soon!

Go visit my wonderful and more talented friends (plural pending making more friends online first) below! by kingdra.net and haphazardly modified by me. I commissioned my avatar/icon from MochaTeeny.

  • Punk the Frog - Lew! has been a friend for years and is responsible for my taking the time to actually set this up like a big girl. Would not be here sharing without him! (and his website is cooler you should check it, ima be (politely)stealing some of the fancier functions from there)
